My name is Ricardo Gomez. I was born in the Netherlands, where I got my Bachelor of Fine Art. I primarily work with pencil and charcoal, focusing on figurative art and especially portraits. I have always loved drawing since I was a kid and never stopped. This led me to take on various creative jobs, including illustration, teaching art, and animation projects that ended up on Stan and AdultSwim.
I haven’t painted as much lately, so it was such fun to do that again for the stobie poles project, especially that stobie poles are such an iconic feature of SA. It was a refreshing change from my usual mediums and allowed me to create something hopefully visually interesting, while informing people about the history of Captain Dale and Richard Holland and their connection to South Australia.
